The door is the whole story on a skid steer
On most compact loaders the front door is the operator's windshield, escape route and weather seal in one assembly, and its pane takes the tree branch, the swinging chain and the misjudged gate post. We replace door glass with the door on the machine when the frame allows, or pull the door and set the pane flat when it does not. Seal channel condition decides more of the price than the glass does, and we tell you which end of the range you are in before work starts.

Skid steers running brush cutters, breakers or grapples should not carry plain glass up front. We supply and fit polycarbonate front panels sized for the common cab openings. Poly scratches faster than glass and costs more per pane, and it is still the right call anywhere the machine eats flying debris for a living. Side and rear positions usually stay glass for clarity.

The whole skid steer door shattered. Glass or the full door?
Usually just the glass. Bobcat, Cat and Deere doors are a frame with a big flat or gently curved pane, and the pane replaces separately for $350 to $700. A bent frame is the only reason to buy the whole door.
Should I put glass or polycarbonate back in the front?
Depends on the duty. Brush cutting, demolition and grapple work call for poly, it takes hits glass cannot. General dirt and grading work is fine on laminated glass, which stays clearer longer and costs less.
Can you fix it at the rental yard before I return the machine?
Yes, and that call saves people real money weekly. We meet the machine at your site or the yard before check-in, and the pane costs roughly half of what a yard damage invoice runs.
My door will not latch since the glass broke. Related?
Almost always. The pane stiffens the door, so a broken pane lets the frame rack and the latch miss. New glass set tight in fresh channel usually squares the door back up.
